Job description

We are looking for a talented Commissioning Engineer in Cape Town (or site location), South Africa, to join our dynamic EPC Project Management team.

Your contribution to the energy transition

As a Commissioning Engineer, you play a crucial role in ensuring systems, equipment, and facilities are properly installed, tested, and functioning as intended. You will be actively involved in commissioning Solar PV and Hybrid Renewable Energy projects across various countries within the EMEA region.

You can look forward to the following tasks :

1. Execute and/or supervise all activities and tests related to commissioning of the Renewable Energy Plant, ensuring compliance with approved plans and protocols.
2. Supervise tests and commissioning activities of the plant's internal MV grid, including MV switching activities.
3. Oversee grid connection and substation testing, including grid compliance tests.
4. Troubleshoot systems during commissioning to meet schedules.
5. Supervise Provisional Acceptance Tests (Performance Tests).
6. Support the preparation and review of project-specific Inspection and Test Plans.
7. Review test and commissioning protocols submitted by OEMs and suppliers.
8. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe and timely commissioning activities.
9. Ensure all tests, reports, and checklists are completed and properly documented.
10. Report activities to the EPC Project Manager and provide reliable redline drawings.
11. Manage handover processes between construction, commissioning, and O&M teams.
12. Oversee O&M training, handover, and defect liability issues.

Your energy is required

You impress us with these qualifications :

• Electrical Engineering Degree or BTech Degree
• Minimum 5 years' experience in commissioning
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical diagrams and schematics
• Experience with insulation resistance testing, earth testing, VLF testing, MV switchgear, fault locating, and protection relays
• Knowledge of PV and BESS testing and standards
• Experience with SCADA systems and multi-vendor communication protocols
• Proficiency in Office and advanced Excel skills
