About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and rapidly expanding retail group, is seeking a reliable and experienced Commercial Van Driver to join their distribution team in the heart of Cape Town, Western Cape. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for the timely and safe delivery of goods to various retail outlets and potentially direct to consumers across the city and surrounding suburbs. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, a strong sense of responsibility, and excellent knowledge of the Cape Town road network. This is a non-remote position, requiring consistent presence at our Cape Town depot and on the road throughout the designated delivery areas. Key Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial van for the delivery and collection of goods to specified locations.
• Plan daily delivery routes to ensure maximum efficiency and punctuality.
• Load and unload goods safely and accurately, verifying delivery manifests.
• Provide exceptional customer service during delivery interactions, ensuring client satisfaction.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and road regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status and any potential delays.
• Handle returned goods or damaged items according to company procedures.
• Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, both internally and externally.

Requirements

• Valid Professional Driver's Permit (PDP) and appropriate commercial driver's license for van operation.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with commercial vehicles.
• A clean driving record with no major violations.
• Thorough knowledge of the Cape Town and surrounding areas' road networks.
• Physical ability to lift and move goods up to 25kg.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
