Job summary

Global Human Capital is seeking a Legal Counsel (Property & Leasing) in Paarl, Western Cape, for a permanent, market-related role. You will draft site leases with major operators, perform due diligence, and manage renewals and permitting from start to finish.

The position requires an LLB with admission as an attorney and 3–6 years PQE in property law, with strong drafting skills and attention to detail. Afrikaans is a plus, and a driving licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• LLB and admission as an attorney of the High Court.
• 3–6 years' PQE in commercial property, leasing, conveyancing or property litigation.
• Excellent contract drafting; there is a drafting exercise as part of selection.
• Meticulous attention to detail across high volumes of similar documents.
• Advanced MS Word & Excel skills.
• Experience with AI tools — preferably Claude.
• Own transport and a valid driver's licence.
• Afrikaans is a strong advantage.
• Ideally live in Paarl or surrounding towns.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate site leases with MTN, Vodacom, Telkom and RAIN.
• Due diligence on landowner title and lease rights; manage renewals, cessions and changes of ownership.
• Track permitting, including aviation approvals, rezoning and environmental authorisations.
• Handle company secretarial work, CIPC filings and supplier contracts.
• Manage disputes and external attorneys.
• Report to the Head of Legal and work closely with the directors.
