Job Title / Role: Commercial Project Manager Smart Infrastructure (SI EA)

Organization: Smart Infrastructure - Lead Country South Africa

Location: Midrand, South Africa

Reporting Manager: Country BU Finance Manager

The Business


The project environment in Smart Infrastructure (SI) includes Electrification & Automation and Grid Software businesses. These global units offer a comprehensive portfolio in electrification, automation, grid control, meter data management, and consulting, with a strong presence in key regions and markets. SI provides products, systems, solutions, and services to transform electrical networks through IoT, innovation, and disruption.


Role Headline

Responsible for managing all commercial and financial tasks to support project and business success, including but not limited to:


Responsibilities of the Role

  1. Ensure accuracy of project books and records, including SAP entries, and oversee project controlling and reporting.
  2. Support the Project Manager in managing financial results according to targets with professional care.
  3. Optimize project gross profit, cash flow, assets, and financing instruments.
  4. Communicate actively with the customer's commercial representatives and resolve commercial issues.
  5. Assist in contract and claim management, collaborating with the contract manager.
  6. Identify, evaluate, and respond to risks and opportunities, taking full responsibility for commercial risks.
  7. Support in selecting partners/subcontractors.
  8. Represent the project in decision boards internally and externally.
  9. Set targets with commercial staff and delegate responsibilities.
  10. Lead the commercial team to adhere to Business Conduct Guidelines, fostering a culture of trust and integrity.
  11. Ensure compliance with LoA and PM@Siemens guidelines on all commercial matters.

Additionally, support the BU Controller with reporting and controlling requirements for SI EA and SI GSW units as needed.


Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent).
  • Experience in commercial functions, including project management.
  • 5-7 years in project environments, preferably with solution projects, software, licensing, and cross-border projects.
  • Knowledge of accounting and controlling.
  • Experience with contracts (NEC3/Fidic) preferred.
  • Experience on C-level projects advantageous.
