The PV Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of large-scale photovoltaic (solar) and hybrid solar PV projects, including projects with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role will lead the planning, design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Oversee all stages of PV projects from initial site assessment to final commissioning and handover.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and risk registers to ensure profitability and timely delivery.
- Lead cross-functional teams including engineers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Report regularly on project progress, issues, and financial status to senior management.
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design and optimization of solar PV and hybrid systems (DC & AC up to 1500V, MV, LV).
- Integrate BESS into PV systems where applicable, ensuring seamless grid connection and system reliability.
- Approve and review engineering designs, drawings, and calculations using industry-standard tools (PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, SketchUp).
- Provide technical guidance during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, municipalities, and utility companies for approvals and permits.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Conduct site visits and quality inspections to maintain standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Professional Registration: ECSA registration (Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech) advantageous.
- Experience:
- 8-10 years proven experience in project management within the solar PV or renewable energy sector.
- Track record in delivering large-scale PV projects (>100 kW up to 50 MW) from initiation to commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, hybrid systems, grid integration, and BESS technologies.
- Hands-on experience with low- and medium-voltage infrastructure.
Skills & Competencies
