Job summary

The South African National Blood Service is seeking an experienced Nursing leader to manage blood procurement and drive operational efficiencies for the Highway Collections unit. The incumbent will implement strategic objectives, policies and standards in line with legislation and best practice, and will stay informed of developments to enhance the service.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, financial management, and delivering operational objectives, with a focus on quality and risk

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) with current SANC registration.
• 2 to 4 years supervisory or management experience.
• Current registration with SANC.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Current CPR Certificate to be renewed as required.
• Valid Code 8 or 10 driver’s license.
• Willingness to drive company vehicle as required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and assist with loading/unloading.

The Incumbent will be responsible for managing blood procurement and operational efficiencies for the business unit to ensure effective implementation of the business plan. Implement strategic objectives, policies, procedures and best practice in business unit guided by legislation and standards of practice. Keep abreast of developments in related fields and implement actions as necessary.

• Incumbent may be required to drive a company vehicle from time to time as per operational requirements.

• Must be prepared to work overtime, weekends and variable hours within the prescribed limits and conditions.
• The incumbent will be required to be on his/her feet for a lengthy period, to carry loads of up to 14kg and assist with loading and off-loading vehicles and able to climb stairs.
