Job summary

Macsteel in Brakpan seeks a General Assistant in the Coating Department to provide hands-on support ensuring safe, smooth, and efficient coating operations. You will assist machine operators, prepare materials, and keep the production area clean and orderly.

The role requires readiness to work shifts, weekends and overtime, basic safety awareness, and good English communication. Training will cover safety and quality procedures, and you will report issues promptly to maintain production targets.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of material grades and steel products is advantageous.
• Proficient in reading and writing English.
• Experience in manufacturing/production is advantageous.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and overtime.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Load or offload products on the lines to meet production targets.
• Visually identify non-conforming products.
• Monitor production processes to ensure within specifications.
• Report non-conformances promptly.
• Move raw materials, profiles and finished products.
• Stack products per layout plan.
• Record production, downtime and waste.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety standards.
• Work shifts and overtime as required.
• Assist with general warehouse and production duties.
• Safe storage of materials.
• Routine safety inspections and report unsafe acts.
• Report maintenance needs in designated area.
• Support other departments when needed.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping.
• Pull or pick material.
• Strap material.
• Sweep and housekeeping.
