Job summary

Placements24 invites motivated individuals to join our Randburg-based Trainee CNC Machinist apprenticeship. This program trains you to operate CNC lathes and milling machines, read blueprints, and perform basic CNC programming, with mentorship from experienced machinists.

Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent is required.
Strong mechanical aptitude with interest in manufacturing and technology.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to precision.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

Assist senior machinists in setup and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes.
Learn to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Understand and input basic CNC programming (G-code and M-code).
Perform pre-machining checks and ensure correct tooling and fixtures are used.
Operate CNC machines to produce components according to specifications.
Monitor the machining process, making adjustments to maintain tolerances.
Perform quality inspections on finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
Maintain machines and work areas, ensuring cleanliness and order.
Participate in the apprenticeship training program.
Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures.
