Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a licensed Clinical Psychologist to join a community mental health center in Paarl, Western Cape. The role involves comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapy for individuals, couples, and families in a multidisciplinary setting.

You will apply evidence-based modalities, supervise where appropriate, and contribute to CPD and community outreach. In-person and telehealth services are expected, with a strong commitment to client care and ethical practice.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
• HPCSA registration as Clinical Psychologist is required.
• Minimum 3 years of post-doctoral supervised clinical experience.
• Expertise in psychological assessment and diagnosis.
• Proficiency in CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapies.
• Strong ethical standards and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic interviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including diagnostic interviews, psychometric testing, and behavioral observations.

• Provide individual, couples, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic Therapy).
• Manage a diverse caseload of clients presenting with various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality disorders.
• Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and general practitioners, to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• A minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral supervised experience in clinical practice.
• Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment and diagnosis.
• Proficiency in a range of psychotherapeutic modalities and techniques.
• Strong understanding of ethical principles and professional conduct in psychology.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
• Experience working with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds in the Western Cape .
