Job Summary : Providing overall clinical governance, oversight, and support for all mental health services, including acute Mental Health and Life Nkanyisa, to meet company clinical and strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs / Responsibilities :
Life Nkanyisa and Life Acute Rehabilitation
- Ensuring quality patient care by demonstrating visible leadership as a mental health subject matter expert in respect of quality patient care.
- Ensuring adherence to clinical standards, protocols, and drug formularies.
- Achieving clinical quality targets and providing monthly reports where necessary.
- Developing and implementing Life Healthcare-specific clinical protocols aligned with evidence-based practices.
- Ensuring ongoing competence of all medical practitioners and professionals through continuous training.
- Ensuring focused risk assessment and management, including medico-legal compliance and alignment with the Mental Health Care Act.
- Participating in the development and maintenance of a risk-based quality management system.
- Ensuring appropriate clinical governance and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Conducting risk assessments, including investigations of serious reportable events.
- Leading monthly M&M meetings and ensuring participation from all relevant stakeholders.
Ensuring business efficiency and sustainability by:
- Actively participating in clinical efficiency initiatives.
- Developing efficiency reports for all psychiatrists.
- Participating in the development of value-based mental health care products and alternative reimbursement models to sustain the mental health business.
Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through ongoing formal and informal communication and networking sessions.
Implementing and sustaining quarterly Clinical Review Panels for Psychiatrists and other Medical Mental Health funder engagement where necessary.
Ensuring effective leadership and people management by:
- Demonstrating visible leadership aligned with company values, operating model, and strategy.
- Sponsoring company initiatives and projects related to clinical care.
- Providing direction and inspiring positive work behavior.
- Recruiting, retaining, and motivating professionals according to company policies and practices.
Requirements :
- Medical practitioner registered with HPCSA in mental health.
- Post-graduate qualification in management is advantageous.
- Proven leadership experience in a similar healthcare environment.
- Understanding of private and public healthcare industry challenges and roles is advantageous.
- Computer proficiency.
- Driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and judgment skills.
