Job description

Job Title: Clinical Engineer Technician

A vacancy exists for a Clinical Engineer Technician based at Life Peglerae Hospital. The successful candidate will report to Hermann Moungang Chakoutio, Clinical Engineer Tech Senior. The main responsibility is the maintenance and coordination of medical equipment technology within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Medical Equipment Asset Management and Maintenance
  • Maintain an accurate computerized asset management system according to Group Engineering protocols.
  • Determine medical equipment replacement needs.
  • Perform first-line repairs, modifications, and installations, adhering to OEM standards.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections as per protocols.
  • Manage maintenance conducted by suppliers and oversee acceptance.
  • Perform pre-acceptance inspections on new, demo, and loan equipment based on ECRI standards.
  • Implement equipment commissioning processes for new installations.
  • Acquisition of Medical Equipment
    • Assist in selecting and acquiring suitable medical equipment, considering current healthcare developments.
    • Consult with medical staff to evaluate and specify equipment requirements.
    • Manage lease and rental agreements within the hospital’s Capex system.
    • Participate in supply chain management for new projects.
  • Training
    • Provide formal operator training and monitor competency, coordinating with vendors for staff training.
  • Professional Development
    • Maintain high standards through continuous professional growth via affiliations, conferences, and resources.
  • Supporting Strategic Initiatives
    • Participate in Clinical Engineering forums and projects.
    • Evaluate national projects in line with protocols.
    Minimum Requirements
    • Diploma in clinical/biomedical engineering or electronics.
    • Experience in medical equipment maintenance in a clinical setting.
    • Membership in the Clinical Engineering Association of South Africa (CEASA).
    • Knowledge of private healthcare industry challenges is advantageous.
    • Computer skills and a valid driver’s license with travel ability.
