Job Title: Clinical Consultant

Job Location: Western Cape, Bellville

Role Purpose

To ensure the implementation of best practices and optimal medical care for members through expert clinical guidance, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
  • Matric or National Senior Certificate
  • A nursing degree (Bachelor of Nursing Science or equivalent) or National Diploma in Nursing
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) for nursing professionals
  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a registered nurse practitioner or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of experience within the healthcare industry
  • 2 - 3 years of experience within the managed care environment and/or healthcare consulting industry (advantageous)
  • 3 years’ experience within theatre (advantageous)
Knowledge
  • Evidence-based clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practices
  • Medical conditions, diseases, and treatment modalities
  • Healthcare system and regulations in South Africa
  • Quality improvement, patient safety, and healthcare outcomes monitoring
  • Adverse event reporting, risk management, and quality assurance
  • Health information systems, EHRs, and healthcare technologies
  • Ethical principles, confidentiality, informed consent, end-of-life care
  • Research methodologies and evidence-based practice
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity
  • Guidelines and regulations on scheme rules and minimum benefits
Duties & Responsibilities
Process
  • Maintain proactive communication with members and meet KPIs
  • Streamline bin management and resolution processes
  • Implement policies related to scheme benefits for consistency and clarity
  • Monitor hospital benefits utilization for cost-effective care
  • Apply benefit exclusions accurately per policy and regulation
Client
  • Provide quality customer service and address inquiries promptly
  • Build relationships with hospitals and providers for coordinated care
People
  • Refer cases to case management for comprehensive care
  • Support case management with clinical expertise
