Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Optenhorst, Paarl, has an opportunity available for a Clinic Receptionist to join the team. The main purpose of this role is to attend to patients both on the phone and in person, coordinate appointments and documentation, and support the delivery of quality patient care.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
Job Description:
  1. Register patients according to established standards.
  2. Assist patients in completing necessary medical forms, including medical insurances.
  3. Monitor and maintain clinical equipment, stationery, and medication required.
  4. Inform patients of clinic procedures and manage patient records.
  5. Open new patient files according to standard procedures.
  6. Ensure patient information is correct.
  7. Process medical aid payments.
  8. Manage patient flow through scheduled appointments.
  9. Obtain medical reports if required.
  10. Maintain a clean reception area to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
  11. Answer all incoming calls promptly according to Dis-Chem standards.
  12. Use proper telephone etiquette when speaking with patients.
  13. Provide accurate information to callers regarding their requests or concerns.
  14. Record caller details accurately and escalate messages to relevant staff.
  15. Confirm messages with callers to ensure accuracy.
  16. Assist walk-in guests in reaching staff for meetings or deliveries.
  17. Provide callers with relevant contact information when requested.
  18. Respond promptly to queries from customers, guests, and callers.
  19. Assist distressed patients during emergencies.
  20. Advise and assist patients with medical aid authorization procedures.
  21. Follow up with patients regarding feedback or inquiries.
