Job summary

Shift Pursuit seeks a qualified Accountant to join our client’s practice in Worcester. You will manage a client portfolio, oversee financial reporting, and provide trusted accounting and tax support with strong technical expertise and attention to detail.

You will maintain relationships, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and SA tax regulations, while driving process improvements and high service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Professional qualification (CIBA, SAIPA, SAICA or equivalent).
• 3–5+ years in an accounting practice.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Experience with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo, Draftworx.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and submit VAT, income tax, and other statutory returns.
• Manage and maintain relationships with a portfolio of clients.
• Act as the primary contact for client accounting queries.
• Provide financial advice and insights to support business decisions.
• Conduct client meetings to review financial performance and strategies.
• Review bookkeeping for accuracy of ledgers and reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Mentor and support junior accounting staff.
• Assist with internal process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to firm policies and professional standards.
