Job summary

Curro Wilgeheuwel in Roodepoort invites applications for a Class Assistant (full-time) starting January 2027. You will work with phase and class teachers to support teaching and learning, help prepare materials and maintain a structured classroom.

Candidates studying towards a B Ed Foundation Phase and having relevant experience will be preferred. The role carries opportunities to develop instructional skills within Curro's learner-centred curricula and school activities.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the phase and class teachers to support the effective running of the phase and grade.
• Help create and maintain a positive, structured and educational classroom atmosphere that supports teaching and learning.
• Assist with planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities under the guidance of the teacher.
• Support the management of learner behaviour in line with school policies and classroom routines.
• Take responsibility for the proper use, care and safekeeping of school equipment, resources and stock assigned to the class and teacher.
• Assist with the organisation, supervision and promotion of sport and cultural activities within the school.
• Support teachers and the school with sport, co-curricular and administrative duties as and when required.
• Provide general classroom and administrative support, including preparation of materials, basic record keeping and communication with learners where appropriate.
