Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom and administrative duties as directed by teachers.
• Support the phase and class teachers to ensure smooth running of the grade.
• Help plan, prepare and deliver learning activities under teacher guidance.
• Assist with behaviour management according to school policies.
• Care for and manage class resources and equipment.
• Organise and support sport and cultural activities within the school.
• Provide general classroom support and basic record-keeping.

Key performance areas

• Work closely with the phase and class teachers to support the effective running of the phase and grade.
• Help create and maintain a positive, structured and educational classroom atmosphere that supports teaching and learning.
• Assist with planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities under the guidance of the teacher.
• Support the management of learner behaviour in line with school policies and classroom routines.
• Take responsibility for the proper use, care and safekeeping of school equipment, resources and stock assigned to the class and teacher.
• Assist with the organisation, supervision and promotion of sport and cultural activities within the school.
• Support teachers and the school with sport, co-curricular and administrative duties as and when required.
• Provide general classroom and administrative support, including preparation of materials, basic record keeping and communication with learners where appropriate.
