Job description

General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Claims Administrator in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

The position reports to the Claims Manager for the Life Health Claims Team in South Africa as well as a dotted reporting line to the Claims Manager in Australia. The Claims Administrator will be responsible for the claims administration of South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Australia.

The role entails:

  • Administration of linking policies and benefits to claims
  • Working with the Claims and Data teams on various claims related items
  • Monitoring mailboxes for incoming claims and liaising with clients to ensure timely receipt
  • Responsible for initiating claim assessment process
  • Assisting with the preparation of claims
  • Manage the outstanding claims process and claims review process
  • Working with the Valuation, Claims and Data teams on reporting and reconciliations
  • Support the Gen Re Claims and Data teams with various projects, e.g. support on client audits

  • A recent graduate or currently studying part-time (preferably in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and influence at all organizational levels
  • Understanding of simple accounting principles and processes
  • Ability to produce quality work in a timely manner
  • Ability to work both independently, and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in challenging situations with an ability to multi-task, be flexible, adaptable and a self-starter
