General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG), is offering an opportunity for a Claims Administrator in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

The position reports to the Claims Manager for the Life & Health Claims Team in South Africa, with a dotted line to the Claims Manager in Australia. The Claims Administrator will be responsible for claims administration across South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and Australia. Responsibilities include:

  • Administration of linking policies and benefits to claims
  • Collaborating with Claims and Data teams on various claims-related matters
  • Monitoring mailboxes for incoming claims and liaising with clients to ensure timely receipt
  • Initiating claim assessment processes
  • Assisting with claims preparation
  • Managing outstanding claims and claims review processes
  • Working with Valuation, Claims, and Data teams on reporting and reconciliations
  • Supporting the Gen Re Claims and Data teams with projects and client audits

Qualifications & Experience

As a Claims Administrator, you will support our claims processing team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent service. You will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals committed to your growth.

  • A recent graduate or current part-time student (preferably in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related fields)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build rapport and influence across organizational levels
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and processes
  • Ability to produce quality work promptly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and self-motivation to handle challenging situations and multitask
