Job summary

PROJECT A Recruitment (S And A Project Management) is seeking a skilled tendering professional to support civil projects in Durban. You will work with senior estimators and project directors from scope review through to pricing and post-tender cost control.

Responsibilities include identifying tenders, preparing BOQs in CCS Candy, reviewing drawings, coordinating supplier quotes, and producing comprehensive tender documentation and cost-control plans using MS Project.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying (NQF Level 7+).
• Minimum 5 years in civil/construction; site and estimating office experience preferred.
• Proven CCS Candy experience; strong Excel skills and project costing know-how.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender scope summaries outlining key requirements and deliverables.

• Review drawings and quantities in BOQs; split into trade packages.
• Assist with supplier/subcontractor quotations and tender tracking.
• Prepare tender documentation including method statements, risk plans, and MS Project schedules.
• Calculate and price rates using CCS Candy; post-tender cost control.

Job description

The successful candidate will work closely with senior estimators and project directors, supporting the tendering process from initial scope review and quantity calculations through to pricing, submission and post-tender cost control.

• Identify available tenders and assist with obtaining tender documentation
• Attend compulsory tender site briefings where required
• Review tender documentation, including contract data, specifications, drawings and returnable requirements
• Prepare tender scope summaries outlining key requirements and deliverables
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and import them into CCS Candy
• Review drawings and verify quantities reflected in BOQs
• Split BOQs into trade packages and assist with obtaining, following up and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Assist with tender tracking, coordination and compilation
• Prepare tender documentation, including method statements, technical approach papers, risk management plans, quality control plans and tender programmes using MS Project
• Calculate and price rates using CCS Candy
• Conduct post-tender cost control throughout project execution, including Cost vs Allowable assessments and reporting using CCS Candy

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Degree / BSC / Bachelor of Technology qualification at NQF Level 7 or higher in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
• Minimum 5 years' experience in the civil engineering or construction industry
• Candidates with both site-based and estimating office experience will be preferred
• Proven experience using CCS Candy for estimating and post-tender cost control is advantageous
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project
• Strong understanding of construction contract frameworks, including FIDIC, GCC and JBC
