Purpose Of The Job
As a Civil Maintenance Foreman, you will oversee and coordinate the maintenance and repair of civil structures, including roads, bridges, and buildings. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of maintenance workers, scheduling maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with vendors and contractors.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning and Execution
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of civil maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for civil structures to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of machinery and equipment, reduce breakdowns, and minimise repair costs.
Quality Assurance and Control
- Conduct regular inspections of civil infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and prioritise repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical problems, develop solutions, and oversee repairs to restore equipment to optimal working condition.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, promoting a culture of safety awareness among team members.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and maintenance logs.
Budget Management and Cost Control
- Accurately forecast maintenance costs based on historical data, upcoming projects, and potential emergencies.
- Allocate budget resources effectively to cover regular maintenance, repairs, and unexpected expenses.
- Estimate costs for maintenance activities, including labor, materials, equipment, and outsourced services.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to justify expenditures and identify the most cost-effective solutions for maintenance issues.
- Regularly monitor and track maintenance expenses against the budget, identifying variances and taking corrective actions as necessary.
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Analyse regular staff establishment reports, identify risks and ensure that corrective measures/relevant management actions are implemented.
- Fill vacant posts in line with Senwes policies and procedures.
- Take action where necessary to materialise EE objectives.
- Arrange for induction of all new personnel to familiarise them with Senwes and the section’s activities.
Performance Management
- Contract performance before D-date:
- Set clear performance standards.
- Communicate expected outcomes.
- Observe and monitor performance and evaluate performance quarterly.
- Give constructive feedback and provide guidance to personnel.
