Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a dynamic engineering firm in Kimberley, Northern Cape, to recruit a Civil Engineer focused on planning, design, and development of roads and related infrastructure. The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines to deliver high-quality road projects that enhance connectivity.

The successful candidate will possess a Civil Engineering degree, 5+ years of road design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in road and highway design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong knowledge of traffic engineering and pavement design.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration in Kimberley.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan road networks, including horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection design, and pavement design.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents using CAD software.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for new road projects.
• Liaise with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as structural and environmental engineers.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist in cost estimation for road construction projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including site visits and inspections.
• Assist in the management of project timelines and deliverables.
