Placements24 is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer for a coastal and marine infrastructure focus in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers feasibility studies through construction supervision on harbours, jetties, breakwaters and other coastal assets.

The ideal candidate has a Pr Eng, at least 7 years in coastal design, strong reporting skills, and the ability to travel along the coast. A blend of office design and site work is expected, with opportunities for hybrid work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with coastal/maritime focus.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 7 years' coastal and marine project design experience.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze coastal structures such as breakwaters, seawalls, jetties, and quay walls.
• Perform hydrodynamic analyses and coastal process modeling.
• Prepare specifications, reports, and tender documentation for marine projects.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for coastal initiatives.
• Liaise with clients, regulators, and construction teams.
• Supervise construction and provide technical support on site.

• Proficiency in relevant software for structural analysis, CAD, and potentially specialized coastal modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of coastal geomorphology, hydrodynamics, and wave mechanics.
• Experience with port and harbour engineering principles.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to project sites along the coast for this role based in Richards Bay.
• Valid driver's license.
