Job Description
You will have a strong background in civil engineering, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for contributing to infrastructure projects. This role involves working on various civil engineering projects, including condition assessments, stormwater management, and infrastructure upgrades.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Condition Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of civil infrastructure components, identify defects, and determine their impact on structural integrity.
- Defect Analysis: Utilize defect rating systems to identify and categorize deterioration (e.g., corrosion, cracks) by severity.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on infrastructure conditions, repair procedures, and long-term maintenance strategies.
- Communication and Coordination: Engage with municipal stakeholders and clients to ensure project objectives are aligned and deadlines are met.
- Data Analysis: Process visual observation data to provide moderate confidence-level estimates of repair needs and future risks.
- Stormwater Management: Participate in stormwater management projects, including site assessments, hydraulic modeling, and developing conceptual designs for stormwater diversions, detention ponds, and drainage infrastructure upgrades.
- Project Management: Take on project management responsibilities, including organizing meetings, taking minutes, and communicating directly with clients.
- Design Development: Contribute to the design development process for various civil engineering projects.
- Client Communications: Maintain effective communication with clients, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
Qualifications
- BSc/BEng
- PrEng / PrTech Eng
Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on condition assessments, stormwater management, and infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., Civil Designer for stormwater modeling), Microsoft Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure. A natural leader with the ability to improvise and adapt to changing circumstances.
