Job Description

1. Support the broader region, including supervision of advisors and contractors
2. Integrate with civil engineering and design functions globally
3. Develop and expand technical infrastructure and processes to optimize civil designs and support project design bases
4. Optimize civil layouts and related designs for ESA projects (Wind, PV, Storage, PtX)
5. Execute civil engineering design from development to detailed design and operations
6. Support inputs into Employers Requirements and contracts, including RfPs, bid evaluation, contractor selection, and technical schedules
7. Design components such as roads, stormwater, crane pads, power lines, substations, wind turbines, solar PV arrays, energy storage systems, and supporting infrastructure
8. Support development of the civil design database with reports, drawings, bills of quantities, cost estimates, standards, plans, and field surveys
9. Maintain commercial awareness regarding project budgeting, cost control, and financial aspects; collaborate with commercial teams
10. Project Reporting: Proactively report on project civil engineering and design progress
11. Civil planning and design integration: Provide civil engineering inputs into project development stages
12. Public Relations: Coordinate with authorities, communities, and government for permits and approvals
13. Decision Making: Make project civil engineering decisions within management authority
14. Knowledge Sharing: Collect and workshop civil engineering requirements
15. Advocacy and Networking: Represent ENERTRAG in industry forums and engage stakeholders on civil engineering approaches

Qualifications

• Engineering (Civil or similar), Construction, or related field
• University degree or diploma
• 0-2 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably with renewable energy or infrastructure projects
• Optional: Progress towards Professional Registration (Engineering Council of South Africa)

Additional Information

• Facility layout planning and civil infrastructure design using GIS and AutoCAD
• Design of civil infrastructure for roads, stormwater, foundations, buildings, substations, power lines, and energy systems
• Knowledge of local civil codes and standards impacting power projects
• Ability to interact convincingly in local, regional, and international teams
• Teamwork, empathy, resilience, and clear communication skills
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally as needed
