Our client generates, stores, and delivers green energy around the globe with wind, solar, biogas, and hydrogen. They are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize civil layouts for renewable energy projects (Wind, PV, Storage, Power-to-X).
- Manage conceptual, preliminary, and detailed civil designs through development and pre-construction phases.
- Prepare technical schedules for construction contracts and Employers' Requirements.
- Contribute to the development of Requests for Proposals (RfPs), bid evaluations, contractor selection, and technical documentation.
- Focus areas include roads, crane pads, hardstands, storm-water systems, power lines, cables, substations, wind turbines, and solar PV arrays.
- Support and supervise civil engineering advisors and contractors regionally.
- Integrate with global engineering and design teams.
- Contribute to building and refining internal technical infrastructure and design processes.
- Support development and maintenance of a civil design database including reports, plans, drawings, diagrams, Bills of Quantities, and cost estimates.
- Conduct field surveys and site assessments.
- Adhere to standards and specifications.
- Manage commercial aspects such as project budgeting, cost control, and value engineering.
- Collaborate with commercial teams for cost-effective design solutions.
- Provide progress reports on civil engineering aspects.
- Engage with public authorities, communities, and government institutions for approvals and permits.
- Represent the company in industry forums and stakeholder engagements.
- Lead technical workshops, compile knowledge, and standardize best practices.
- Exercise decision-making within defined project scopes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (ECSA registration advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years experience in civil design for energy, infrastructure, or construction projects.
- Experience with renewable energy projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of design standards, permitting, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in civil design tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial acumen and interest in contract management.
