CHILDRENS MARKETING & PUBLICITY COORDINATOR

Main Purpose Of The Role

This leading South African publisher and distributor is looking for a Marketing & Publicity Coordinator who is passionate about children’s literature. They will play a key role in promoting our children’s books and will be responsible for executing our marketing & publicity strategy for locally and internationally published children’s books across all platforms and Jonathan Ball Publishers.

The successful candidate will be based in Denver, Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with schools & retailers to distribute school resources and marketing materials.
  • Overseeing all JBP (international and local) Childrens social media channels and pages.
  • Managing the JBP (international and local) Childrens newsletters.
  • Assist with Childrens author tours, events, and launches.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key shareholders and publishers.
  • Brainstorming creative ideas for marketing Childrens books.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans, both written and verbal.
  • Good general book and Children’s book trend knowledge.
  • Must be self-motivated, pro-active, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • A strong interest in and love for Children’s books, reading and publishing in general.
  • Ability to foster good relations key stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan and organize Children’s events with a hands-on approach.
  • This position would possibly require work-related domestic travel, as well as attendance at functions; book fairs; exhibitions and book launches which involve considerable after hour commitments.
  • Be creative and innovative with title campaigns.
  • Matric certificate is essential.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
  • A valid driver’s license and own vehicle is essential.
