About the Role

Our client, a rapidly scaling FinTech startup, is seeking an innovative and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its technology strategy and development from their Vereeniging, Gauteng headquarters. This executive-level position is responsible for defining the company's technological vision, overseeing all aspects of software development, infrastructure, data security, and IT operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, architecting robust and scalable technology solutions, and driving innovation within the FinTech space. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance technical excellence with business objectives, ensuring the technology stack supports the company's ambitious growth plans in Gauteng and beyond. The hybrid model offers flexibility, blending essential on-site collaboration with remote work capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in software engineering and technology leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a CTO or VP of Engineering capacity.
• Proven experience in building and scaling technology platforms, preferably in the FinTech or SaaS industries.
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architecture, and cybersecurity principles.
• Experience managing large, distributed engineering teams and fostering a positive team culture.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and resource management for technology departments.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
• Experience working in or with companies in Vereeniging, Gauteng is a plus.
