Job Description :

Our client is seeking a degree-qualified Mine Planning Engineer with experience in underground gold mining environments to join their team in Mpumalanga.

Responsibilities :

  • Support the development, implementation, and optimization of mine plans for various orebodies using different mining methods.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement mine plans, analyze data, and identify improvement opportunities, ensuring operational requirements are met while maintaining safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in developing short- and medium-term mine plans.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret geological data, geological models, and production data.
  • Help prepare mine schedules, production forecasts, and resource estimations.
  • Use mine planning software to generate plans and reports.
  • Monitor mining operations to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Update mine models and data management systems as needed.
  • Support environmental, safety, and sustainability initiatives related to mining operations.

Requirements : Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in mine planning, including a minimum of 3 years in underground gold mining environments.
  • Experience with mine planning software such as Vulcan, Surpac, and Deswik.
  • Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.

Benefits and Contractual Information :

  • Permanent contract upon successful completion of the initial short-term contract.
  • Relocation to the area is required.
