Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive HSE systems, policies, and procedures during mine development and operational phases.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant mining safety legislation and environmental regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits across the site.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through training, awareness, and behavioural safety programs.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely reporting and permit compliance.
  • Mentor and lead a safety team, fostering a culture of accountability and zero harm.
  • Implement and drive 5 year HSE Strategy and Safety Improvement Plan
  • Compile and submit monthly, quarterly and annual management reports
  • Quarterly HSE, SIP and legal audits

CANDIDATE PROFILE (MIN REQUIRTEMENTS)

  • Degree or diploma in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 810 years of HSE experience in the mining sector, with at least 3 years in a senior safety leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of open cast mining operations and chrome processing is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation, risk management frameworks, and incident investigation protocols.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., COMSOC, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, ISO 45001) preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
