About the Role

Our client, a prominent financial services group in Rustenburg, North West , is searching for a distinguished Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead its comprehensive risk management framework. This executive position is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating all forms of risk across the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance and safeguarding the company's assets and reputation. The CRO will play a pivotal role in shaping the risk appetite and strategy of the company, working closely with the board and senior management. This is a significant leadership opportunity within the vibrant economic hub of Rustenburg , requiring a strategic thinker with extensive experience in risk management within the Banking & Finance sector. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain an effective enterprise-wide risk management (ERM) framework.
• Oversee the identification, assessment, and reporting of financial, operational, credit, market, and strategic risks.
• Establish and monitor risk appetite statements and tolerance levels in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant banking and financial regulations pertaining to risk management.
• Lead and manage the risk management team, fostering a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
• Provide strategic advice to the board of directors and executive management on risk-related matters and mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement robust internal control systems and policies to manage identified risks.
• Oversee stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of adverse economic conditions on the company's financial health.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on risk-related issues.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as FRM or PRM are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in risk management, preferably in the banking or financial services industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, methodologies, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel Accords, SARB regulations).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful ERM frameworks.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in managing complex financial risks and in conducting audits or regulatory reviews.
• Familiarity with the economic landscape of the North West province is beneficial.
