Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) required in Johannesburg.

A leading force in the racing and betting industry is seeking a visionary Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) in Johannesburg, South Africa to take the reins of its marketing strategy and elevate the brand to new heights.

While the product offering is strong, marketing efforts to date have been fragmented. The CMO will take on a critical leadership role to unify all marketing initiatives, drive brand consistency, and build a powerful, customer-centric presence across both online and retail environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals across both digital and physical touchpoints.
  • Oversee the execution of cohesive, integrated campaigns that enhance brand visibility, customer acquisition, and engagement.
  • Establish and enforce consistent messaging across all channels—online platforms, in-store experiences, and communications.
  • Build and manage a high-performing marketing team, fostering creativity, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Develop performance metrics and track ROI to ensure continuous optimisation of marketing efforts.
  • Partner with product, operations, and retail teams to support launches, promotions, and community initiatives.
  • Spearhead market research and customer insights to inform targeting, segmentation, and positioning.
  • Manage external agencies, partners, and budgets to deliver impactful, cost-effective campaigns.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior marketing leadership role, ideally within a fast-paced, consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into executable plans.
  • Deep understanding of multichannel marketing, brand management, and customer engagement.
