Chief Information Officer required in Johannesburg.

An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced and forward-thinking Chief Information Officer (CIO) to take the reins of a high-impact tech environment.

This role calls for a strategic yet hands-on leader to oversee and unify the efforts of the Development, Business Intelligence (BI), IT, PMO, Project Management, and Quality Assurance (QA) teams.

This is more than just a leadership position – it’s a chance to drive the ongoing evolution of complex, global technology systems and ensure tech strategy is firmly aligned with business growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction and operational delivery across Development, BI, IT, QA, and PMO.
  • Oversee both local and international infrastructure — ensuring it is secure, scalable, and future-fit.
  • Guarantee system uptime, performance, and stability across all platforms.
  • Identify, plan, and execute tech updates to ensure systems are always evolving and efficient.
  • Own KPIs and SLAs across all technical departments to drive performance.
  • Partner with the executive team to shape tech strategy that supports overall business goals.
  • Build strong vendor relationships and ensure licensing, compliance, and risk are well-managed.
  • Inspire, mentor, and grow multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Stay ahead of cybersecurity threats, maintaining robust data protection and disaster recovery strategies.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior-level IT leadership role (CIO, CTO or similar).
  • Experience in the iGaming industry would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge across development, IT infrastructure, BI, and QA.
  • Proven experience managing international tech teams and global infrastructure.
  • Expertise in maintaining, modernising, and scaling complex systems.
  • Working knowledge of Angular and SQL.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Solid understanding of security frameworks, data protection, and compliance standards.
