Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide teaching and learning services with research activities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Teaching and Learning: Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies.
  2. Research: Research activities to be discussed with research program leader and director.
  3. Community Engagement: Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.

Key Functional / Technical Competencies

  1. Working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of Auditing.
  2. Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, and setting assessments.
  3. Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
  4. Interest in community service.
  5. Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  6. Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
  7. Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.

Key Behavioural Competencies

  1. Professional and ethical behaviour.
  2. Adaptability / Agility.

Minimum Requirements

Lecturer:

  1. An honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in Accountancy.
  2. A minimum of two years' experience in teaching Auditing.
  3. A minimum of three years' experience in the field as an accountant is desirable.
  4. Registration with SAIPA / ACCA or SAICA as an AGA(SA).

Junior Lecturer:

  1. An honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in Accountancy.
  2. A minimum of one year experience in teaching Auditing.
  3. A minimum of two years' experience in the field as an accountant is desirable.

Remuneration

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
