Job summary

Emthanjeni Municipality in De Aar, Northern Cape, invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the post of Chief Financial Officer. This permanent role heads the Financial Services Directorate and reports to the Municipal Manager, based at De Aar.

The successful candidate will manage the Budget & Treasury Office, ensure MFMA compliance, and drive MTREF development with a focus on financial sustainability and statutory reporting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MFMA, regulations and policy interpretation required.
• Experience in budgeting, financial statements and reporting needed.
• Familiarity with local government financial management controls.
• Must understand MFMA, National Treasury Regulations and related acts.
• Must be able to implement accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare municipal budget and annual financial statements.
• Manage banking, accounting and financial processes for the Municipality.
• Lead Budget and Treasury Office activities and Supply Chain Unit.
• Support MTREF development and budget monitoring systems.
• Ensure MFMA compliance and audit readiness.
