Job description

Are you an entry level CFO or senior FM with an entrepreneurial mindset, 5–8 years’ experience overseeing investor relationships, finance risk and capital management, playing a crucial role in operations, improving overall profitability and ready for a challenge and a move to the Western Cape? Excellent opportunity to lead our client's well established business's financial planning, risk mitigation and overall financial operational efficiency, shaping the financial future of this well-established company. Investor & Capital Management, funding or trade finance experience advantageous.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant finance qualification
  • 8+ years in senior financial leadership (preferably in funding, trade finance, or non-bank financial services).
  • Demonstrated success in raising capital from institutional or private investors
  • Strong grasp of financial risk management, governance, and investor reporting
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial instincts
  • Comfortable operating in a high-growth, fast-paced, founder-led environment
  • Excellent communicator who can engage funders, executives, regulators, and clients alike
  • Passionate about inclusive growth, economic empowerment, and the success of South Africa’s SMMEs

DUTIES

Investor & Capital Management

  • Manage and nurture relationships with current funders and capital partners.
  • Drive the acquisition and onboarding of new funding partners, including institutional and private equity investors.
  • Oversee capital structuring for our funding solutions (e.g., LCs, SBLCs, tender-based finance).
  • Ensure full readiness for investor due diligence, audits, and transparent financial reporting.

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business growth goals.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to advise on pricing models, deal structuring, and national scaling efforts.
  • Own and optimize financial KPIs, including cost of capital, funding turnaround time, deal margin, and sector-specific profitability.
  • Act as a key voice in long-term business planning and financial modelling.

Risk, Governance & Compliance

  • Lead the development of enterprise-wide risk frameworks, especially in supplier exposure, deal funding, and cash flow protection.
  • Ensure compliance with SARB, FICA, SARS, and Companies Act regulations.
  • Reinforce internal financial controls and manage audits, both internal and external.
  • Champion ethical funding practices and protect the company’s compliance and public reputation.

Financial Operations & Systems Scaling

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and profitability tracking across all business lines.
  • Improve working capital efficiency and funding cycle management.
  • Integrate and optimize financial systems using platforms such as Google Workspace, Monday.com, and internal tools.
  • Build scalable and automated financial processes to support high-volume deal environments.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and grow the finance team across accounting, compliance, treasury, and planning.
  • Mentor emerging finance leaders and collaborate closely with the Financial Operations Coordinator (FOC) to strengthen alignment between operations and accounts.
  • Foster a high-performance, accountable, and mission-aligned finance culture.

Salary: R negotiable dependent on experience
