The Role
- Reporting to the Regional CEO, responsible for all aspects of finance across the companies within Africa region
- Lead a capable finance team while ensuring the leadership team has a clear understanding of financial principles
- Guarantee full compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations
- Act as a commercial business partner to the CEOs and a wider management team to drive the required growth
- Support Group CFO and Group team ensuring that the African entities are compliant with Group policy and actively supporting and driving towards the goals of the Group
Key responsibilities
Reporting
- Ownership of Internal and External Reporting, including by Division financial reporting, supported by KPI drivers
- Regional FP&A and management of the Budget, Forecast and Strategic Business Planning
- Interpretation and presentation of Reporting to CEO, Management Team (Manco) members, Divisional Presidents, Group CFO and team, investors, etc
Strategy
- Work with the Board and Management team to develop and execute financial, commercial and operational strategies
- Deliver financial insights and advice to support business activities, plans, and objectives
- Actively contribute to the company’s strategic development across all business areas, questioning assumptions where necessary
- Create strategies to limit, forecast and optimize costs
- Support wider Group to achieving Group objectives
Compliance
- Company Director and Board Member
- Full ownership of all Statutory matters for the Region with legislative responsibilities – Employment Equity Committee, Provident Fund Employer representative, Social & Ethics Committee, BEE Compliance, CIPC Statutory Submissions, Annual Transfer Pricing review, etc
- Responsibility for ensuring Tax compliance – combination of in house and liaison with external consultants
- Engagement with external auditors regarding annual audits and preparation of Annual Financial Statements
- Responsibility for ensuring robust internal controls in place
Other
- Overlook finance function and finance team in Africa region
- Responsibility for cash management, CAPEX and treasury functions for the Region
- Management of the implementation of ERP and other systems as required
- Ensuring financial systems are robust, compliant, risk free from fraud and support both current activities and future growth
- Act as an agent for positive change, promoting efficiency, consistency and collaboration
- Ad hoc responsibilities as required
Key requirements
- Qualified Accountant, or qualified by experience
- Up to date knowledge of local legislation, statutory and regulatory requirements
- Prior experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in a PE backed environment
- Significant external stakeholder management experience (customers, investors etc)
- Track record of delivering value, via strategic and commercial initiatives
- Hands-on business partner with can-do attitude
