The Role:
Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Johannesburg/ Cape Town, South Africa
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Department: Executive Leadership
Job Purpose
As the CFO at Rentoza, you will be a key strategic partner to the CEO and executive team,
responsible for leading the financial vision and ensuring sustainable financial growth. You will
oversee all financial planning, risk management, compliance, reporting, fundraising, and
investor relations. This is a dynamic leadership role suited for a qualified CA(SA) with a strong
commercial acumen, deep understanding of financial systems, and the ability to drive data-
informed strategic decisions in a scale-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
● Lead the financial strategy in alignment with Rentoza’s growth objectives.
● Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board based on financial analysis
and projections.
● Drive financial sustainability while supporting innovation and agility in a high-growth
environment.
Financial Management & Reporting
● Oversee preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with IFRS and
regulatory requirements.
● Manage financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
● Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
● Develop and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and financial risk management
strategies.
● Lead the firm’s annual audit process and ensure that it is completed within the stipulated
time frame.
● Ensure compliance with relevant tax, statutory, and regulatory frameworks.
● Engage with auditors, legal counsel, and external regulators as required.
Cash Flow, Treasury & Capital Management
● Manage the company’s cash flow, capital allocation, and liquidity.
● Oversee treasury operations, debt financing, and working capital requirements.
● Support strategic fundraising and investor engagement efforts.
Investor Relations & Stakeholder Reporting
● Develop and manage relationships with investors, funders, and financial partners.
● Lead financial due diligence, reporting, and communications for current and prospective
investors.
● Prepare board packs, investor decks, and valuation models.
Team Development & Systems Oversight
● Lead, mentor, and grow the finance team.
● Drive finance digital transformation and implement scalable systems and processes.
● Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Ops, Risk, Customer, etc.) to support
financial health and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
● CA(SA) qualification (required).
● Minimum 10 years experience in financial management, with at least 3-5 years in an
executive/leadership role.
● Experience in high-growth environments, tech, fintech, or consumer services preferred.
● Proven track record in financial planning, successful annual audits, fundraising, and
investor relations.
● Strong understanding of IFRS, tax laws, and corporate finance.
● Experience working with financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP) and business
intelligence tools.
