CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER – Our client in the granite mining industry is looking to employ a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial aspects of their mining operations, based either in East London, Port Elizabeth, or Stellenbosch, Cape Town.
The CFO will be responsible for managing and directing the financial operations of the mine, supporting the strategic growth and long-term objectives of the company.
Minimum Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA) (SA), MBA, or similar finance-related qualification.
- Minimum of 10 years of senior financial management experience.
- Mining industry knowledge – beneficial.
- In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and corporate governance.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale financial operations and optimizing financial performance.
- Experience in managing a finance team and fostering collaboration across departments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CA(SA) or similar professional qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a financial management role, ideally within manufacturing or retail environments.
- Proven track record of managing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and tax laws in South Africa.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and COO to align financial goals with operational objectives.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed financial plans, forecasts, and budgets.
- Manage cash flow.
- Report directly to the Chairman and Group Financial Director on financial performance, strategy, and key metrics.
- Ensure financial goals align with the company's objectives and long-term growth plans.
- Monitor performance against budgets and financial projections, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
- Conduct financial analysis to evaluate profitability and cost-effectiveness of mining operations.
- Oversee financing strategies for capital expenditures and working capital needs, managing relationships with financial institutions and investors.
- Negotiate financing options and ensure compliance with relevant agreements.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with South African financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and manage audits.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks related to mining operations.
- Implement and oversee internal controls to protect assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Lead and manage the finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and training.
