AltGen South Africa is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to steer the organisation’s strategic and operational performance across renewable-energy assets and commercial activities.

The CEO will report to the Board, taking full responsibility for asset performance, governance, budgets, and stakeholder engagement, while guiding O&M contractors and project-finance considerations toward long-term value creation.

• 10–15+ years' experience in renewable energy, power, utilities or infrastructure.
• Senior-level accountability for operating power or renewable-energy assets.
• Experience with PPAs, project agreements, operating budgets and project-finance structures.
• Board and/or shareholder reporting experience.

A well-established organisation in the South African renewable-energy sector is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead its operational, commercial and strategic performance.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO will take overall responsibility for operating asset performance, commercial and financial management, contracts, governance and key stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the business and implement Board-approved strategy.
• Take accountability for the performance and optimisation of operating renewable-energy assets.
• Manage O&M contractors and specialist service providers.
• Oversee budgets, forecasts, cash flow and commercial performance.
• Manage key contracts, claims, variations and contractor-performance matters.
• Oversee regulatory, governance, HSE and compliance requirements.
• Manage relationships with key industry stakeholders.
• Lead strategic and asset-optimisation initiatives.
• Provide clear reporting and recommendations to the Board.

Requirements

• 10–15+ years' experience in renewable energy, power, utilities or infrastructure.
• Senior-level accountability for operating power or renewable-energy assets.
• Proven O&M contractor and service-provider management experience.
• Strong commercial and contractual experience.
• Experience with PPAs, project agreements, operating budgets and project-finance structures.
• Board and/or shareholder reporting experience.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between asset performance and commercial outcomes.
• Experience within utility-scale renewable energy is highly advantageous.

Qualifications

Relevant degree in Engineering, Finance, Commerce, Law, Business, Project Management or Infrastructure Management.

A postgraduate qualification and/or professional registration would be advantageous.
