Job description

Job Responsibilities

  • Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role.
  • Under general direction, develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems.
  • May provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity.
  • May be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist / technical output.

  • Technical quality of outputs

  • Engineering support on site

Customers and Business Partners

  • Consult clients on discipline related issues
  • Degree of regular communication.

Internal Processes

  • Encouragement of safe working environment
  • Develop processes and systems e.g. ISO, design processes, document control
  • Quality control.

Technical: Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Critical assessment and development of solutions for improvement.

Business Development Support

  • Identify new streams of revenue
  • Scope Clarification
  • Costing, methodology and proposal drafting.
  • Provide leadership to the Substation design team
  • Training and Mentorship.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc (Eng): BEng or B. Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or related field.
  • Professional registration with ECSA

Other Competencies and Requirements:

  • 7 years of technical experience in Transmission/Distribution for Engineers with BSc/BEng degrees and 10 years of experience for Technicians/Technologists.
