Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the engineering department, guiding team members in their tasks and ensuring a high level of performance.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all machinery and equipment onboard the cruise ship, guaranteeing compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Monitor and maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies to prevent shortages and ensure efficient operations.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless vessel operation, fostering a culture of cooperation and communication.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and crew members, empowering them to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
- Accurately record all maintenance and repair activities, providing valuable insights for future improvements.
- Stay informed about industry developments and advancements in technology to enhance efficiency and safety onboard the vessel.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a commercial vessel.
- Valid Chief Engineer license and all required certifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
- Able to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software related to engineering operations.
