Job Description

A Hotel Chief Engineer plays a crucial role in the hospitality industry, overseeing the maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment within a hotel. Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring operational efficiency of systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical wiring, and elevators
• Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of hotel equipment and systems
• Managing and training the engineering team for daily maintenance and repair tasks
• Coordinating with other departments to meet all equipment and facility needs
• Handling emergency situations promptly and professionally
• Overseeing budgets and expenses related to maintenance
• Keeping up-to-date with industry standards and safety regulations
• Recommending new equipment and technology to enhance hotel efficiency and guest satisfaction
• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations

Qualifications

• University qualification or certification in Engineering or Facility management
• Previous experience in hotel maintenance is required
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Strong problem-solving abilities, leadership skills, and the capability to manage teams effectively
• At least five years of experience in a similar role
• Able to legally work in South Africa
