Job summary

A leading aviation support company is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee aircraft maintenance across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the aircraft maintenance sector, a valid AME license, and strong skills in administration and customer service. Responsibilities include managing engineering teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining aircraft to operational standards. This position is based in Heidelberg/Durban/Mossel Bay, with opportunities for travel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in the aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and managing aircraft maintenance logistical support systems.
  • Experience of the CAMO system is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement systems for effective functioning of all sections.
  • Manage in-field support services for deployed aircraft.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain aircraft as per OEM Manuals and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure AMO is adequately equipped for maintenance tasks.
  • Manage all engineers and solve technical queries effectively.

Vacancy: Chief Engineer
Reporting: AMO Accountable Manager
Location: Heidelberg/Durban/Mossel Bay

Aero Support Force Africa (Pty) Ltd has a requirement for an efficient, skilled problem solver to fill this position as Chief Engineer in Heidelberg/Durban/Mossel Bay within the SAF Aerogroup.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement systems and controls to enable the effective functioning of all sections under your control in the AMO and ensure maximum availability of aircraft and related equipment.
  • Manage and control in-field support services to deployed aircraft and personnel in terms of routine spares support and AOG scenarios as defined by the Service Level Agreement.
  • Ensure that regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures are complied with when carrying out maintenance and managing the various maintenance departments.
  • Ensure maintenance is carried out as per the OEM Manuals and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure AMO is adequately equipped to carry out maintenance as per AMO Ops Spec.
  • Ensure compliance with store procedures and control of Calibration items, Ground support equipment and Special tooling at home base and all line stations.
  • Effective management of all engineers under his control.
  • Solve technical queries received from shopfloor through dealing with suppliers, OEM etc.
  • Maintain good tool control and housekeeping.

  • Willing to work after hours to support urgent matters on contracts and meet deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience

The following is essential for this position:

  • Qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME License holder).
  • Twin Turbine Rotorcraft type rating (Advantageous).
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and management of aircraft maintenance logistical support systems.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in the aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Experience of the CAMO system (advantageous).
