Job description

Appointment or progression to Chief Engineer level is conditional upon the applicant achieving the required number of credits deemed as a pass in the Internal Assessment Test.

Job Purpose

The role supports and participates in establishing functional requirements and manages professional and technical processes associated with electricity pricing and tariffs service and supply economics service for internal/external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports functional planning processes associated with electricity and infrastructure pricing priorities and requirements.
  • Provides advice, information, and guidance on complex forms of electricity and infrastructure pricing programs and statistical analysis.
  • Manages principles and applications related to developing and presenting technical designs for complex electricity reduction techniques and tariff economics.
  • Oversees procedures associated with contract preparation, collation, and/or evaluating tender applications for complex engineering works.
  • Defines standards and controls implementation/outcomes of complex engineering contracts.
  • Disseminates information on professional aspects of electricity and infrastructure pricing concepts and reports interventions and outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (NQF Level 8) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 5 years relevant post-qualification experience in the Electricity Supply Industry.
Preferred Requirements
  • 6 years relevant post-registration experience in the Electricity Supply Industry and Energy Pricing and Tariffs.
