Job description

Job title: Chief Director - Compliance and Enforcement

Job Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg

Deadline: May 01, 2025

Requirements:

  1. Matric plus an undergraduate qualification in Law, Environmental Law, Natural Science or relevant qualification on (NQF7) within the related field as recognized by SAQA.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at a senior managerial level within compliance and monitoring sector.
  3. Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme as endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG).
  4. Experience in the field of Environment. Valid driver’s licence.

Duties:

  1. Manage and provide strategic leadership to the Chief Directorate and contribute to the relevant programmes and responsibilities within the Branch: Regulatory Compliance and Sector Monitoring.
  2. Ensure effective management of teams and programmes within the department that monitor and promote compliance with environmental legislation across the different environmental sectors, including waste and pollution, air quality and biodiversity management.
  3. Monitor and promote compliance with the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act (NEMBA) 2004 and other related regulations.
