Job summary

Old Mutual Limited is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the development, modernization and sustainability of applications and platforms. The role focuses on AI-native engineering and embedding AI-assisted practices across the lifecycle to deliver AI-enabled products and platforms.

You will oversee Software/Product Engineering, Platform/DevOps, Data Engineering, AI/ML and Security Engineering, ensuring delivery speed, security and governance while modernising legacy systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 8+ years technology or software engineering experience.
• 7+ years managerial experience overseeing software teams.
• Experience leading cross-functional development teams and delivering complex projects.
• Strong understanding of front-end, back-end, integration, and platform technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape a high-performance engineering organization.
• Deliver complex, business-critical projects on time and with quality.
• Define and maintain roadmaps aligned to business priorities.
• Establish a Chapter operating model and mentor chapter leads.
• Embed AI-assisted practices across the software lifecycle and enterprise tooling.
