Job description

Job Title: Chief Accounting Officer
Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg
Deadline: May 24, 2025
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Oversee and lead the Accounting Section, including monthly reporting, annual audits, and planning processes. Coordinate external audit activities and review all financial plans and processes. Provide input to the budget process, ensuring reporting systems reflect actual, budget, and forecast data. Monitor progress and keep senior leadership informed of the organization’s financial status.
  2. Ensure all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems comply with IFRS, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Lead financial projects, system changes, and developments.
  3. Manage the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely payments, monitor aging reports, and collaborate with stakeholders and Treasury on cash flow planning. Lead financial project implementations and establish systems to support operations.
  4. Mentor and develop the accounting team, managing work allocation, training, performance evaluation, and team dynamics.
  5. Manage the company’s tax portfolio, ensuring compliance with VAT, Corporate Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, Customs duties, and other relevant regulations.
  6. Oversee the preparation of Annual Financial Statements for the company and its subsidiaries.
  7. Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CFO, offering strategic and operational recommendations.
  8. Monitor and enforce compliance with Group Policies and maintain good relationships with regional offices as the company liaison.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, CMA, or other professional qualification.
