ABOUT MAMATWAN: The South Africa Manganese operation is located in the manganese-rich Kalahari Basin in the Northern Cape, home to 80 percent of the world’s manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.
Eligible employees will receive an employer contribution towards the company-elected retirement fund. South32 will support assistance for part-time studies aligned to role requirements and business needs at accredited institutions to eligible employees.
This is a permanent full-time position. As a chemist in the laboratory, you will perform safe, accurate and timely analysis of shift samples using different analytical techniques, report analytical results to processing plants, safely store and dispose of routine lab waste and old samples, adhere to laboratory standard operating procedures and QA/QC protocols, and maintain good housekeeping. Under the direction of Senior Chemist you will perform routine quality and safety inspections, compile and send daily consignment reports to customers, assist with training lab personnel, conduct non-conformance investigations, and file laboratory documents according to the lab document control system.
