Job description

Chemist Analyst Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Chemist to be based in Johannesburg.

The Chemist will be responsible for analyzing samples accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner according to relevant Test Method Instructions. The role includes assisting the Fluid Care Manager to ensure compliance with the company's Quality Standards and Health and Safety procedures.

Qualifications and Minimum Experience:

  • Matric; preferably a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, BTech Chemistry, or BSc Chemistry.
  • 3-5 years of experience in engineering and/or customer service environments.
  • Good working knowledge of Fluid Power and/or mining equipment is preferable.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze samples using correct procedures and methods.
  • Monitor technical accuracy of results and take remedial action when necessary; record data and evaluate analytical results.
  • Update internal findings, improvement requests, and document minutes of meetings.
  • Generate reports detailing analytical results, including opinions and interpretations.
  • Verify instruments and assist with their maintenance.
  • Calibrate and perform minor maintenance on laboratory and preparation equipment.
  • Identify biases and QC issues early, communicate findings to the Section Manager, and diagnose suspect results.
  • Address client complaints and validate new methods under supervision.
  • Attend training courses for ongoing development.
