Chemical Technician - Battery Production Support

Introduction

An exciting vacancy exists for a Technician Chemical Battery Production Support - Coke Making, based in Vanderbijlpark for a large steel producer reporting to the Battery Production Senior Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide a specialist Analytical service to the company with regard to routine and non-routine analysis of various solid and liquid samples, utilizing appropriate testing methods and techniques.
• Plan day to day tasks and priorities.
• Interpretation of results and reporting thereof.
• Provide technical support/advice to the company.
• Commissioning of new analytical instruments.
• Analytical method development and validation thereof.
• Comply with all aspects of ISO17025 requirements.
• Comply with ISO14000 and related safety standards for the Works.
• Develop training material and coordinate training requirements for subordinates.
• Analytical fault finding and first line maintenance of analytical instruments.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers directly.
• Investigation of customer complaints and internal detected errors.
• Purchasing of laboratory consumables (SAP system).

Desired Experience & Qualification

• National Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 18 months experience.
